Writing Workshops

Ok, we both know why are you are here. It’s because you have great stories ( real or imagined), and you know you can blow people out of the water with your tales, dramas, sagas, comedies, and fairytales. But a few things might be inhibiting you like…

You want to know where & how to begin.

The first sentences is always the hardest to write. What do you even want to say? Will anyone care? Will anyone read this?

Overcoming the first hurdle of STARTING is half the battle. We want you to start showing up for yourself and your projects.

You don’t know if you are a good writer.

How do some people make it look so easy?! Then when you try you feel like you end up writing children’s books for newborns ” The cat sits. The man cries.”

How are some people able to have their writing flow out of them and emotionally connect with their audience?

You want direction & clarity in your work.

In the beginning, I often felt directionless in my writing, like I was navigating through a forest I had never been to before without a light, path, or proper hiking shoes ( don’t wear flip-flops for a 10-mile hike).

You want more tools & techniques to keep you creatively inspired and motivated.

You know you can write, but maybe the problem is that you need the motivation and are prone to staring at your pen and paper instead of actually writing anything down. Or maybe you wrote a sentence, then went off to make coffee, come back and impulsively check Instagram and before you know it, it is time for lunch.

You want a support group and a guide (because DAMN doing this alone is hard).

We both know that you hold the potential to be a storyteller machine and few amazing writers were creative in isolation. It is rumored that C.S Lewis helped plant the idea of The Hobbit in J.R. Tolkien’s mind over tea, and that Zelda Fitzgerald would edit and craft her husband, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s work and might have suggested the title of The Great Gatsby. Then look at the mutual exchange of encouragement and ideas between Gertrude Stein and Ernest Hemingway ( not to forget about her influence with Picasso too). Few of these creative geniuses actually work in isolation.

You want to stop working for other people.

We will work together to have you dedicated to your storytelling process and begin investing your great energy into yourself and your projects.

I remember feeling so anxious and powerless because I was working a job that I didn’t care about and not giving time to my podcast; I felt a creative tumor begin to replicate and reproduce inside of me the more time I spent working for other people.

You want to learn how to do storytelling through multiple mediums.

I clearly have commitment issues because I can’t stick to one form of storytelling. I love writing my ideas out with silky, inky pens on crisp, naked paper, engaging the reader through the visual aesthetic of sentence structure and literary techniques. But I also love performing my stories on stage, being with people in the flesh, and making people laugh! Then there is podcasting, where I get to converse and tell a story through voices, sounds, and music. Don’t think you have to limit yourself to one form, you can also be a triple threat of a storyteller.

You want to change the world with your writing.

You know your stories have the power to move people, to enact change, and are a force for good in the world.  You just need to figure out how to transmit your stories, make them contagious, and build an audience.

You are ready to take the next step into becoming a successful and engaging storyteller and are tired of waiting!

I want to be your creative guide

Together we will go through the woods of your mind. I will light the path, show you were the creative berries are, and help you watch out for mental swamps, and encourage you to keep going when night falls and the path has obfuscated.

My programs aren’t a big production that shuffles through students and doesn’t give you or your stories the attention they deserve. These courses are developed to give you focused attention, with one-on-one or small groups, where everyone has quality time to share and support each other.

These programs are developed to create a deeper and lasting relationship where I understand your aspirations, doubts, strengths, and weaknesses. I will not only provide you with the tools to improve your writing but will also coach you through the trials and tribulations of the writing process: the self-doubt, the writer’s block, and tapping into the well of creativity inside of you.

Working with a coach or community will help motivate you, keep you accountable, and highlight the creative blindspots or limits we are all prone to make if someone else isn’t there to watch out for them.

Through specific questions, daily exercise, and tailored homework, my process works to help you understand your evolution as you hone and sharpen your writing abilities.

You will walk out with the fundamentals of good writing and storytelling from the sentence to the screenplay, how to stay focused on your message to keep your audiences attention,

I’m elated to hear your stories and I want to provide personalized support to help you achieve your storytelling dreams whether it is becoming a better blogger, writing your first children’s book, getting up on stage and telling live stories, or podcasting.

Well, why do you think you can help me?

These programs are the unification of my Psychology Degree, years of meditation, and storytelling expertise. They offer a unique training process that aims to help you not only improve your writing but help you self-actualize through the writing process in order to tell more honest stories. Great writers and creatives take the time to understand themselves in order to find the truth within their stories, which is one of the secrets to bridge with your audience. My tenet philosophy is that in order to connect with your listeners, you must first connect with yourself.

My psychology background has taught me how to understand the inner workings of the mind, how to tap into the creative process, and how to analyze your development in order to write honest stories about the human condition.

I have been a storyteller since birth, but my expertise is in podcasting, live performance, and the written word. I can provide you with the tools to express your story through these different mediums and help you adapt your stories into podcasts, books, blogs or for the stage.

Want the Spotlight on You?

The One-on-One Program

Personalized Program

If you would like to have full attention to you and your stories ( let’s be honest who doesn’t) then sign up for a one-on-one intensive.

When it comes to projects, I’m externally motivated. Give me a deadline, give me a time frame and I will get that SHIT DONE.

But when it comes to my own creative projects….well….going down my personal Youtube rabbit hole ( of child hip-hop dancers who have more talent that I ever will) is soooo much easier.

If you have the talent and are craving the discipline and the careful critiquing eye to help motivate you to improve the storyteller you already are then one-on-one lessons would be your game.

Or maybe you are struggling to find the time to dedicate to your writing and have all of these stories and speeches bubbling up inside of you, but you can’t find the time or the environment to focus. I will help you find and dedicate yourself to a consistent writing practice that fits your schedule to help build good habits and help you feel creatively free.

Ok, that sounds nice, so what am I getting?

A 90 minute-long conversation that we will turn into a strategic creativity cocktail to help you find consistent inspiration for you and your work. It will be a personalized combination of the best exercises for you to work with so you can tap into the replenishing well of creativity that lies within you.

We will analyze your goals and best medium(s) for you to tell you stories and improve your craft. We will create the ideal schedule for you and your creative pursuits and learn the importance of discipline. I will assign homework, give you deadlines, edit and provide supportive and constructive criticism.

Women’s Only Writing Masterclass

8 week intensive

Want to liberate your creativity and become a better storyteller? Do you often feel like you can’t REALLY express yourself in working spaces with men? Do you find that you get more inspiration and support from an all-female creative community? Are you afraid to be messy and vulnerable with your art?

Women’s stories have been silenced, written for them, or passed with a male pseudonym. Now is one of the first times in history where women as a collective are able to have their stories shared….and we are listening.

Our culture still encourages women to take supporting roles, to put others before herself, and have her identity be defined by a relationship. Women take up over half of the population but less than half of the writing world. Roles and stories where women have dynamic, complex, and contradictory personalities are just starting to be written.

I created this women’s only writing class because I have found such freedom when working in a female-safe space where there was no fear of being sexualized, mansplained, or interrupted and women were supportive of each other, encouraged one another to be messy and honest, and were able to connect with the plight that we still face today.

The Women’s Only Writing Masterclass is an 8-week community-based program that gives you the space to breathe, share your story openly, and be understood as a female.

Learn how to tap into your creativity become a better storyteller in a space where you can be messy, honest, and be empowered.

You will receive.

  • The knowledge of how to write a powerful and eloquent story, from sentence structure, logical transitions, to powerful main ideas.
  • Exercises that dive deep into your evolution and walk away with a better understanding of yourself and history.
  • Weekly homework to keep you on track and creatively tuned.
  • How to express your story through different mediums: podcasting, live performance, and the written word.
  • A supportive group of individuals who want you to succeed and you care about their success.
  • A sense of clarity & direction with your writing goals coupled with the discipline and structure to keep pursuing once the class is completed.
  • The motivation & support from a creative guide who won’t let you down, will talk you out of your self-doubt, and help you get your shit together.
